Andy is a Sheffield-based marketer with 24 years’ private and public sector industry experience. He has proven skills in strategic marketing planning, customer profiling and research, product and service development, branding, campaign management, PR, digital marketing and social media best practice. He has extensive team management experience in different sized organisations and diverse cultures. He is entrepreneurial focused, having founded and managed an award-winning marketing agency that was subsequently sold to one of the UK’s largest financial services companies. He is currently a Silverdale School governor.

Jon is the Chair of the Silverdale School Governing Body.

He is a National Leader of Governance and has significant experience on both secondary and primary school governing bodies. He has worked as a local government officer for 42 years, and more recently is on secondment as lay convenor for UNISON Sheffield Metropolitan Branch. He has worked as a local government Principal Officer for 30 years managing significant budgets and large teams of staff. He served as a councillor in the London Borough of Brent from 1978 to 1986, was a Member of the National Mobility Scheme from 1982 to 1986 including being its chair in 1985. He has extensive experience of dealing with government departments and Ministers at national level.

Jennifer Carlring-Wright

Jennifer has a passion for science and over a decade’s experience as a cancer research scientist. She gained her PhD from the University of Sheffield where she is currently working as a Business Manager and is responsible for ensuring new discoveries are taken up by industry and translated into therapies to treat disease. She is a qualified project manager and has extensive experience of business management, commercialisation and entrepreneurship through being an inventor and being involved with the establishment of a biotechnology company, which aimed to develop new cancer therapies. Inspiring girls to have a career in a STEM area is important to Jennifer and she has been a STEM Ambassador and participated in outreach throughout her career

Roisin Paul

Roisin led Silverdale School to its ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted judgement in 2014, with it being recently ranked 17th in the country amongst non-selective schools by the Sunday Times.

She helped create and grow its very successful teaching school, which annually trains over 100 teachers and provides CPD to over xx primary, secondary and special schools in South Yorkshire and Derbyshire, and recently launched the National Modern Languages SCITT.

Roisin’s formal education up to the age of 18 was in Belfast, Northern Ireland. She moved to London to study a BA Hons Degree in History and Religious Studies and then trained as a teacher there. She spent eight years teaching in London comprehensive schools before moving back to Northern Ireland to open a new integrated school whose aim was to educate catholic and protestant children together.

In 2000, Roisin became a lead teaching and learning consultant for Barnsley School Effectiveness Team and in 2003 took up post as Assistant Headteacher at High Storrs School in Sheffield where she later was promoted to Deputy Headteacher. Roisin became the Headteacher of Silverdale School in 2013.

Professor Sam Twiselton

Professor Twiselton is the Director of the Sheffield Institute of Education at Sheffield Hallam University. She leads a national centre of education research and practice, recognised for its excellence and innovation in teaching and learning. With experience in teacher education, curriculum development and language and literacy, she has been heavily involved in influencing government policy on teacher education and was recently a member of the advisory panel for the Department for Education Carter Review of Initial Teacher Training (ITT) in England and the DfE Expert Behaviour Management Panel.

A Chartered Accountant and an experienced Finance Director/Senior Finance Manager who has worked for UK based and international multi-site, manufacturing businesses and a large international law practice. Experience in managing reporting and controlling, and a key player in the development and implementation of strategic plans and budgets, he also gained M&A experience with acquisitions, disposals and business restructuring. More recently he developed and improved the accounting and control processes at an international law firm and involved in a significant change management project to move processes to a shared service centre in Poland.  Well motivated, a strong team player with excellent communication and management skills and a high level of integrity.

Linda McAvan MEP

A Member of the European Parliament since 1998, Linda has considerable experience in policy making and negotiating legislation in Brussels and is chair of the European Parliament Committee on International Development.   Locally, she has long experience of economic regeneration projects and is an Honorary Professor at Sheffield University.  As a languages graduate herself, she is a strong advocate for languages teaching and learning.

More recently he has been a Business Consultant, primarily helping companies to manufacture in the Far East. 

He is skilled in acquisition and mergers, and has experience in licensing, advising on business structures, marketing techniques and start-up activity.

He was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise in 2006.
